Bantams Bring the Fire vs Brookfield

Set a new Team Record Today

The Bantam Boys played in the heat and brought the fire today!
We knew going in that this might be a lopsided game, so the coaches challenged the boys to set a new Bantam Passing Record.  We told them we needed to make at least 50+ successful passes.   We succeeded and had a total of 55.  We had at least 75+ pass attempts, so there is still room for improvement.

Our two goalies and amazing defense held the other team to ZERO goals for the season’s first shutout!

It's fun as a coach to watch the boys succeed when you give them a challenge to meet and they do their best to make it happen.   Today was hot and they could have easily been lazy because of the score, but they worked hard to meet the goal and I appreciate that.

Final score 19-0.

A Good Showing for Short Handed Bantam Boys in Weekend #2

By Robert Wikstrom 05/03/2021, 8:00am CDT

On Saturday the Bantams played their second game in a row with only 8 players, but easily handled the equally short handed Blazers.  They learned a lesson in good sportsmanship when winning by backing off defensively and passing the ball more instead of scoring at will.  The result was a game that saw a Bantam team completely over 50 successful passes.  This is a new Raptor record for a Bantam Team I'm sure!   Final score was 21-1

On Sunday the boys traveled to Mukwonago to face a good club.    They really had to work hard for the victory today.
We only had 6 of our players, so the other team loaned us 2 kids each half.  We played the game with no subs.

The offense was led by Blake with his 5 goals and Gavin added 1 goal.  Henry worked hard all day running as a middie all day with very little breaks.  He took a lot of Face-offs and helped us keep the ball on our offensive side of the field.
On defense, Blake and Liam were lights out  and Alexio had 2 saves in the first half.  Birthday boy Liam took over goalie duties in the second half and had 4 saves to help us stay ahead in in the 4th quarter.

The game ball went to Caiden who was playing in his first ever lax game and played attack and middie.  He took a couple  face-offs, scooped up several ground balls and played great defense when the other team had the ball.

Overall each boys played their heart out and we ended the game with a 6-5 win to stay unbeaten.

Bantams Open Season With TEAM WIN Over Elkorn

By Rob Wikstorm 04/26/2021, 8:45am CDT

As the coach, I was super proud of my Bantam boys in our first game this past Sunday.   The important thing to me wasn't the fact that we won 15-5 and every kid except the goalie had a goal.   The greatest part of the game for me was watching the whole team spend the last quarter passing the ball to the last kid that still needed to score.  It was so great to watch them work to get him the ball.   Did I mention they played the whole game with no subs?  They really did a great job!

My biggest goal as a coach is to not only teach the game and have each boy do well, but to teach them to be good sports (win or lose), to be good team mates (which often means being unselfish) and to love the game.

I'm looking forward to see how good this group can be this season.  It's going to FUN!
