Amazing Performanace Against Lake Country

By Rob Wikstrom 05/20/2019, 8:15am CDT

What a great performance by this Bantam Team.  Every week they continue to amaze us coaches with how well they are going, both individually and as a team.  I think the final score was 15-5 before we stopped the game a little early to try and avoid the rain.   In that score we had at least 7 different kids score goals.

Each week we are working with the team to get them to work together as a team and move the ball around rather than try to take on to many defenders on their own.  They are doing much better at finding an open team mate and moving the ball to the open areas.  They can see the results when that happens. We are also working on what it means to be a good team mate and make sure all players get a chance to be involved in the play and have a chance to score goals.  It's great fun to see them root for each other and try to make that happen.

Great Game Against Elkhorn

By Robert Wikstrom 04/15/2019, 10:30am CDT

A come from behind Victory.

We played a great game this past Saturday against Elkhorn.  We fell behind early in the game, but our boys played well and made some really amazing team plays to score some nice goals.  I think we had one of the best plays of the year so for when Robbie pasted the ball from behind the net to Blake Kranz out front and he scored his first goal of the season to tie the game in the fourth quarter.  A few minutes later we scored again to take our first lead of the day and after that we just needed to control the ball for the last minute of play to seal the WIN.

The coaches couldn't be prouder of how well these boys are playing already.  They are listening in practice and putting what we are teaching into the games and they are a fun group to be involved with.  Keep up the good work the next two weeks in practice and we will see how the rest of our season's game go when we get back on the field April 27th and 28th.

Opening Bantam Weekend

Two Games Down on Opening Weeked - Bantams are 2-0

The Boy's Bantam team had a great first weekend.  On Saturday they played Ozaukee and for their first game after two practices, they did amazing.  The made a lo of great passes, catches and shots and ended up winning the game 7-0.  we had 5 different kids score, led by Chace Meo with 3 goals and Blake Schumann played great in goal and earned a rare shut out.  Niko Rodriguez, Andrew Scanron, Mason Anderson and Aiden Anderson all had their first goals of the year and for most it was their first LAX goal ever.

On Sunday we payed a good TriCity Titans Team and the score was close all day.  We learned a lot about how we need to play defense against good teams and in the end we came out on top by 1 goal. Final score was 9-8 with 5 different kids scoring. Today our scoring was led by Mason Anderson with 3 goals and Chase Meo with 2 more goals.  Nathan Wade, Kyson Yarbrough (2) and Graham Winnie all scored their first goals of the season.

What I'm really impressed with was how well they play defense and how many successful passes they make already.  Kids this age don't usually do so well so quickly after picking up the sport.

I'm not expecting to win all our games this season but I do think this is going to be a super fun.  They are a fun group to coach and I'm looking forward to watching how good they can be when we continue to work on the fundamentals and increase our LAX IQ.
