It may not be Jurassic Park, but somebody should keep an eye out for those Raptors! The men of Kenosha blazed past the Hamilton Chargers on Thursday, 12-6, due in large part to a significant input from the senior class. The Raptors erupted to an early 5 goal lead and never looked back, keeping the Chargers at bay for the remaining three stanzas with stout defense and disciplined offense.
Picking up right where he left off, Air Force Academy-inductee Ashton Valentine continues to soar to new heights,
collecting another 4 goals in the contest. This gives him 12 tallies on the season, which places him at 3rd in the entire state of Wisconsin in the category.  Not only can he score, however, as Valentine also managed to dish out 2 assists, giving him 6 points total in the duel. His last name may be Valentine, but there is no love for opposing defenses when Ashton is in the game.

Likewise, Edgewood College Lacrosse signee Andrew Stich has also continued his impressive stretch of play, as he controlled
the defensive core and remained a rock-solid presence in the middle of the field for the Raptors. He collected his second
goal in as many games, marking the first scoring streak of Stich’s storied career. Just as baseball has ‘5-tool’ players, we have found our ‘3-tool’ player in Stich: defense, transition, and offense. His threat level for opposing teams continues to rise.

Face-off maestro Kane Palmer also remained in top form, as he dominated the draw in convincing fashion against the Chargers. Not to be denied on offense, Palmer chipped in 2 goals and an assist as well, preserving what has become a string of high-level lacrosse for the senior.

Rounding out the offensive ensemble, sophomore Carter Kuryanowicz completed his hat-trick in the closing seconds of
the game, scoring three goals and adding an assist, which would become the cherry-on-top for a fantastic outing from the
budding playmaker. Other scorers included Gavin Gutman and Connor Beinlich, who also has a multi game scoring streak of his own.
Defensively, the Raptors remained as air-tight as ever, allowing only 6 goals while in the absence of veteran netminder
Patrick Stalman. You may not have even noticed Stalman’s unavailability, however, as his understudy, the sensational
sophomore Aden Yance, made everything look business as usual, weathering the Charger offense time and time again.

You may want to call the Kenosha defense Alcatraz Island, because once you get locked in, you simply can’t escape.  Led by hard-nosed defensemen Payton Metzger, Dylan Connell, John Bogdala, and Stich, the Raptor defense is playing inspired, energetic, and downright angry defense. Early condolences to the next offense who has to come toe to toe with this group.

With this victory, the Raptors move to 2-1 and find themselves nestled into a tie for 2nd place in the Classic 8 - White Conference. The Men of Kenosha continue to work towards their next battle, a meeting with the Brookfield Lancers at home on Wednesday, May 5th.
